In Roanoke, votes on liquor-store proposition to be recounted
Recount in Roanoke
ROANOKE — The recount is set.
The Nov. 4 vote to allow liquor stores in Roanoke ended up tied 790-790.
On Monday, a committee will recount the ballots, said Kim Barnes, city secretary. If the vote remains the same, Proposition 1 will die.
If it passes, liquor could be bought for off-premises consumption only.
In the same election, voters overwhelmingly approved the sale of mixed beverages in restaurants.
